About Dave
I have been doing shows in a mobile planetarium since 2023, and it's the best job ever! I have been all over Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.
Before that I was a teacher, and before that I spent 30 years working in physics and astronomy. I have worked on NASA and ESA missions and have had my work published globally – and my passion is to bring this real-life experience into schools.
I believe in creating that spark in children that inspires them to learn, to have the curiosity to find out more, and to give them the confidence to go out into the world to do just that!
- PhD in astronomy (just call me Dr Dave! Or not…)
- Real-life experience of discovering things in space and of working in the space industry both on NASA and ESA missions (https://science.nasa.gov/mission/swift/)
- Qualified teacher (QTS/PGCE) with experience up to KS5
- 50,000+ kids in a dome over the years (roughly 80% primary, 20% secondary)

The Galaxy Dome
The equipment is an inflatable dome made of light-weight material that houses a high-quality projection screen. It packs up small and can fit into a car. If the hall is suitable (see CONTACT), it is inflated by a fan which is controlled inside the dome to manage the air when people are going in and out. Once inside the fan is turned down low and is incredibly quiet. Setting up takes about 30 mins, as does packing away.
The Galaxy Dome is British made, supports local businesses, and has all the necessary fire-safety ratings on the materials.
